A practical checklist for testing the EA on MetaTrader 5 before using real account risk.

    Confirm the symbol

    Start with XAUUSD or your broker's gold symbol equivalent. Some brokers add suffixes such as XAUUSDp, XAUUSD.a, or GOLD.

    Check broker conditions

    Record spread, commission, swap, contract size, leverage, execution type, and server time. Gold EAs can behave very differently between brokers.

  3. 03

    Backtest carefully

    Use real ticks where available. Test long periods and recent periods separately. Do not judge a setup from one short lucky window.

  4. 04

    Review drawdown and daily loss

    Look past total profit. Check maximum drawdown, worst days, consecutive losses, spread sensitivity, and whether trade frequency suits your account.

    Forward-test first

    Run demo or very small risk before live use. VPS disconnections, slippage, broker rejection, and news events can change outcomes.
